Ecca Vandal is Sri Lankan but from Melbourne. This is an interesting one in that one of the things we often talk about on here is diversity being punished, but she's really succeeding despite it.

I always say this - the big thing is you have to let your artistry go first. But we do have to understand that consistency and the more you do a similar emotion, the easier it is to grow.
That is also the case, though, if the music is not really good, it's not gonna matter anyway. Less friction you get from being the same emotion doesn't matter if it's an emotion people aren't really feeling.
Seven Years of Wild Growth
Her growth has been very wild, starting back in March of 2018 to now, where she was at zero. So we have seven years of going all over the place. Looking at how she's released music, we go back to 2015 with the first single that Chartmetric clocked her starting there.

Really, probably these 37,000 monthly listeners came from those early songs, especially since they got a decent amount of plays now.
She has an EP from 2016. In 2017, she put out this record produced by Mike Elizondo, who has a wild discography.

Everything from working for Dr. Dre, then doing Fiona Apple's, and now has done the last two Turnstile records. Wild, wild run. He also did a lot of Avenged Sevenfold.
After 2017, she wasn't very active. She has this one song here in 2020, and then now she's been being a little bit more consistent, doing some cool stuff on TikTok.
The Consistency Breakthrough
It's a very common pattern of artists to be really inconsistent, and then once they start cooking more consistently and doing stuff as they get older, people shouldn't get down on themselves. It's very easy to look back on your career and go like, I wish I did more of this, I wish I did more of that.
Listen, I will kick myself every day for the rest of my life that I didn't get on YouTube or TikTok sooner, or Instagram consistently. But I've also been busy. I've been doing a million different things with my life. That is part of what all this is about - sometimes we're doing other shit.
The point being now that she's been more consistent, what can we see is happening? Massive spikes. She's really getting a lot more attention. Some of this is touring. She just did Europe with Limp Bizkit. She's been doing lots of different dates and touring.
