I got on a call with an Instagram rep
I got a notification on my Instagram asking if I'd like a call with a rep from Instagram.
I've done these before. They're largely trying to tell you how to post better, and I usually find them pretty boring. What was interesting this time is that the whole call was the rep walking me through a best practices tab in my account. If you have a business account, you should have this too.
So here's what's on it, plus what they said out loud that isn't written down.

Three posts a week, not 10 to 12
They opened with "you're posting the right amount of posts," so I asked what the right amount per week actually is.
They said three. Above three gets you in the algorithm.
That's roughly what we've been saying, but we've been saying it based on the 10 to 12 figure that came from Adam Mosseri. According to the rep, the number is three.
They are pushing trial reels hard
There's a whole section on trial reels in there, and they pushed it hard on the call. They said trial reels are the number one way to grow followers and get in front of strangers.
Worth taking seriously given they're telling you directly what they're promoting.
The specifics they gave me
The guidance they walked me through:
Share something funny, relatable, or unexpected in the first three seconds of your reel to hook your audience
Anything over three minutes is unlikely to do well, and if it's over three minutes, it will not get recommended to audiences
Minimum resolution of 720p
Frame rate of 30 frames per second
No watermarks
